Optimizing Green Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
With the rise of e-commerce, smart warehouse management is critical for the success of any supply chain. This situation should be supported with modern material handling systems such as Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS).
However, AS/RS consumes a lot of energy which becomes a concern of global warming. At the same time, improving the AS/RS can be a very challenging task due to its complexity and dynamic nature.
In this case, I developed Discrete-Event Simulation (DES) integrated with a metaheuristic algorithm i.e. NSGA-II for imitating the AS/RS and optimizing the energy and efficiency at a time. Further, I also built a User-Interface that can be easily used by non-experienced users.
